A lot of companies make copper-clad steel, but only Fushi Copperweld makes genuine Copperweld® CCS. We invented cladding back in 1915, and our years of innovation since have brought Copperweld® to the forefront of bimetallic technology around the world. Our brand is known the world over, and although a lot of people may say they are offering "Copperweld," unless you are buying from us directly or from an authorized Fushi Copperweld agent, you are not getting genuine Copperweld® copper-clad steel.
Copperweld® is always clad in solid state, and never plated. Copper-plated steel (CPS) is inferior to clad technology in many ways— voids, porosity, inconsistency in the copper coating and other deficiencies in the product can mean a loss of conductivity or a drop in signal or current carrying capacity. Because Copperweld® products are always formed from solid copper and solid steel, you can be assured that every inch of the product is of the highest quality.
Today, the Copperweld brand family is growing. We recently introduced Copperweld® HIDE™, a jacketed version of our CCS for electrical pole grounding, and Copperweld® 4THOUGHT™, a version of our CCS designed and sized specifically for substation grounding.
